Entre How To Make Friends et ce troisième album, From Coast To Coast, Hifiklub a eu le temps d’expérimenter plusieurs formats, qu’il s’agisse d’EPs (Docteur Lo-Fi & The Remix, Back To La Tomate, Bird House), de bande originale de film (R. Stevie Moore: I Am a Genius, And There’s Nothing I Can Do About It), de pure expérimentation sonore (Karaoke Noise), voire même d’interventions au sein de collections d’art (Collection Amplifiée).

Après tant de projets et de collaborations en seulement deux ans, les – à l’époque – trois membres permanents du groupe font une certaine entorse à leur quotidien collaboratif en enregistrant ce troisième album quasiment en trio. Seuls Alain Johannes, également réalisateur, mixeur et arrangeur de l’album, et l’artiste Arnaud Maguet, sur le point d’intégrer pleinement Hifiklub (il intervenait jusque là uniquement sur un plan visuel) participent aux sessions à Los Angeles.

En resserrant le propos, l’album offre ici – par rapport à ses prédécesseurs – une musique plus radicale, sauvage. A la croisée du post-punk, de la pop, du noise rock, un rock plus frontal fait de basses tendues, de guitares lourdes et de refrains accrocheurs.
