L’isolement engendre parfois (souvent?) des créations singulières, encore plus lorsque les conditions techniques d’enregistrement sont, au mieux, sommaires. Durant le mois d’avril 2020, dans cet étrange moment de notre histoire collective, Joyful Noise Recordings sollicite Hifiklub et Jad Fair, fondateur du groupe Half Japanese, pour le projet de compilation 'Safe In Sound – Home Recordings From Quarantine'. En quelques mots, l’initiative du label américain consiste à demander à ses artistes d’enregistrer une nouvelle chanson avec les moyens à disposition chez chacun d’entre eux, en confinement.

C’est dans ce contexte exceptionnel et incertain de pandémie de Covid-19, qu’Hifiklub et Jad Fair proposent "Staying At Home", surprenant inédit à la production moderne.

Les différents titres de la compilation sont dévoilés au fil de l’eau, tout d’abord numériquement puis – in fine – sur une double album vinyle. Participent également à cette édition limitée: Deerhoof, El Ten Eleven, Kishi Bashi, Rob Crow & His Family, Mike Adams At His Honest Weight, Kramer, Eerie Wanda, Thor Harris, Swamp Dogg, C.J. Boyd & Will Oldham ou encore Dumb Numbers.
